This republic day, makes me really proud and happy. I have a soul of myself in front of me, my cute little daughter who is 21 months old. Makes me realize how much responsible should i be going forward, makes me recollect all those good to listen and execute acts that my father used to tell me and i never wanted do :).
Watching the launch of phir mile sur merah tumhara made me really nostalgic. It Made me younger by 22 years. I still remember every bit of the song that was almost a national anthem-2. School days and Old dyanora B&w tv flashed in my mind. It took me a moment that i infact forgot Indian Pledge and guess what, i wanted to recite it in full for my kid. Thank God, Google helped. Quickly looked at the pledge draft in English, Telugu and Tamil. I realised i was not as bad as i felt as i could recollect around 90% of the lines, though i must admit i felt em brassed not to have all the lines recite as i used to when i was a boy.
Let me share few thoughts of my own on the new Phir Mile sur...
Honestly, thanks and appreciation goes to the entire team who thought, shot and rendered the master peice in its new version. Its a really thought after act that can bolster the thought process of the entire generation thats probably getting swept of in technology and twitter.
The song essentially tries to show case the next generation torch bearers by having many a genx achiever. I am extremely happy seeing them. I was also happy that Telugu song bit got more than an inch and was nice to see a well deserved longer footage than what it was in v1.0. Mahesh was a good choice too.
I am really not happy to see certain characters who have tainted history shown as national heroes. I won't go very personal, however. The other oscar winner Resul Pookutty could have been there instead of XYZ who appears in every alternate ad these days. Some people i thought could have been there (if you can have some old thespians and some repeated faces) then
for sure it could have been some one like A.B.J. Abdul Kalam, E.Sreedharan, Ratan Tata, Naryan Murthy, M.S.Dhoni, Dr. SPB (if you want only from music/cinema) and many more. A footage of the famous young commander, who went into the rescue act of Mumbai attacks could have been better off.
I don't have any thing against these famous personalities who at the most make us feel cinematically happier. However, be it young or old we have enough achievers who could have been shown replacing some of the same faces which was younger when i was young. Even if you were to pick from art, culture and music, we still have choices.
An effort of this scale for sure will not be some thing that can cover everything and anything that satisfies all. But sit back and really think weren't there some more icons and faces that we can choose as our Heroes singing the great song which has become national anthem-2.
Let me sign off stating Phir Mile Sur is an attempt towards stirring those patriotic instincts and thoughts for which am greatly indebted to. Otherwise i would not have thought off looking to recollect our Pledge. Hats Off.
Long Live Phir Mile sur!!. Mah tujhe Salam. Long Live India!!
